The 19-year-old Massachusetts-born girl closes out the April 24 show, where all remaining finalists sing two solo songs and one duet, with her perfect cover of Julie London's 'Cry Me a River'.
Amber Holcomb, Angie Miller, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison were battling it out for the Top 3 spots in "American Idol" season 12 on Wednesday, April 24. The four girls sang two solo songs each and were paired for a duet.
After footage showing the Top 4 visiting L.A. Children's Hospital was played, Amber performed first. She covered Celine Dion's "The Power of Love" for her first solo, and the judges loved it. Mariah Carey said it's like "2013 meets major classic songs that people love."
Candice went with Drake's "Find Your Love". Randy Jackson praised her vocals, but Nicki Minaj wished that Candice would've stuck to the melody, saying, "You could have still kept it classic, Candy Girl, and still made it current."
Kree opted to go bluesy with "It Hurts So Bad" by Susan Tedeschi. Randy felt parts of the song were a little disconnected, while Keith Urban wanted to see more emotion and more connection in Kree's performance.
Angie took on Jessie J's "Who You Are", singing behind a piano. Mariah was clearly amazed as she gused, "The caliber of that performance was beyond." For Randy, the performance "was 10 out of 10 out of 10."
Before their second solo performances, the girls sang their duets. Amber and Kree teamed up for a cover of Adele's "Rumor Has It". Nicki thought Amber almost dominated Kree, while Keith expected an action on the stage and waited someone to "throw a mike stand or something."
Candice and Angie's duet of Rihanna and Mikky Ekko's "Stay" was more dynamic. Randy exclaimed, "Yo! Yo! Unbelievable. That's the way you do a duet!"
For the second solo performance, the finalists had to sing one-hit wonders and Amber opted to go with Richard Harris' "MacArthur Park". Nicki said, "You're blooming for the world to see," and, "Out of the four girls in the competition, you're the one I would want to get to know." Mariah thought the performance was "not overt," but had "star quality." Mentor Jimmy Iovine clearly didn't like the song, saying, "That song is corny."
Candice covered Samantha Sang and Bee Gees' hit "Emotion", which might not fit the "One Hit Wonders" theme. Keith criticized the song choice, saying, "For me, nobody has done a bare-naked-bones ballad that exposes everything about their voice."
Kree redeemed herself after her first performance with a cover of Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale". Randy and Mariah liked it, as Nicki added, "I think your voice felt so beautiful and pretty and angelic." Keith disagreed though, thinking that the song didn't show her best ability to be intimate on the one side and sing burn-down rockers on the other.
The night was wrapped up with another perfection by Angie, who sang Julie London's "Cry Me a River". "Mystical and celestially powerful," Keith raved, as Nicki gushed, "You came out tonight to snatch some wigs off some heads! ... Tonight was your night." Randy added, "The best of the night. Angie wins the night, hands-down."
